The Loft Gift Shop: Preserving Heritage Through Handmade Craft

Located in Crestwood, Missouri, The Loft gift shop occupies a building with deep local roots. Originally constructed in the 1960s, the structure was intended to enrich the community and honor its historic character.

The Loft began as a curated antique shop, featuring vintage finds sourced from across the country. Over time, it evolved through the stewardship of various managers, each contributing to its transformation. The shop’s charm and merchandise were greatly influenced by Dana Jones, son of one of the founding members of the Historic Sappington House Foundation, whose creative vision helped shape its unique character.

Today, The Loft stands as a non-profit gift shop operated by the Historic Sappington Foundation, with all proceeds supporting the Foundation’s mission to preserve and promote local history. It is currently and lovingly managed by co-directors Dyann Dierkes and Jan Krumm and sustained by a dedicated team of 30 volunteers.

Home to handcrafted goods from over 25 regional artisans, The Loft celebrates the spirit of community, creativity, and heritage. Visitors will find gifts for all holidays and occasions—from Christmas sparkle to springtime whimsy, heartfelt keepsakes to seasonal décor—all thoughtfully curated to reflect the warmth of local craftsmanship.

Guests are invited to follow the Rooster up the stairs and discover a space where history is honored through the art of giving. Now, THAT'S sumthin to crow about!!!
