THE HISTORIC SAPPINGTON HOUSES
ABOUT US
In October 2018, the Sappington House Foundation became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit, allowing our community to support this historic campus in a deeper and more meaningful way. With that designation, every donation goes straight into preserving the Thomas Sappington House Museum and helping us bring the 1816 Joseph Sappington Log House back to life through its careful reconstruction. Together, we’re keeping these stories standing. Not just as buildings, but as living pieces of our shared Missouri history.
Together, these two Sappington homes tell a shared family story, one in brick, one in log, each revealing a different chapter of early Missouri life. We invite you to explore both houses and discover how their histories continue to shape our community today.
Our Two Sappington Homes
Our site includes two remarkable Sappington houses. Thomas built his brick home in 1808 and Joseph built his log home in 1816. These first cousins created two very different homes that together tell the fuller story of early Missouri life. Click below to meet each one and explore their unique place in our history.
"The mission of the Sappington House Foundation is to preserve the past by inspiring generations to discover and appreciate their own and our community's heritage".
