November 12, 2025 Wednesday, 6 pm

  • Gingerbread House Demonstration and Hands-on Decorating Fifteen fortunate attendees will go behind the scenes to see how chefs Bernard DeCoster and Keith Gerst bake, build and decorate the holiday centerpiece - a gingerbread house. The class will be held in The Barn restaurant. The cost for aspiring pastry chefs is $30 for the lesson and a gingerbread house that you can take home. You can bring a glue gun, glue sticks, and some decorations, but the gingerbread house, royal icing, some decorations and use of glue guns will be provided.

  • Gingerbread Village display

  • During open hours, Gingerbread house submissions will be accepted between Monday, December 2, through Friday, December 6, and then will be on display in the Library of Americana and Decorative Arts between December 6th and December 21st, after which time, bakers can take their creations home for the holidays.

 

December 6, 2025 Saturday 10 am-4 pm​​

  • Historic Saint Louis presents “A Spirited Holiday Past”

  • Before Christmas trees were a tradition, simple boughs of greenery decorated Historic
    Sappington House which opens a window to the past to look back to the early 1800s.
    In the parlour, a violinist and guitarist will be playing carols for visitors to sing along.
    Gingerbread houses will be on display in the Library. Find the yesteryear “story
    connections” during a house-to-house regional tour of 25 sites. Holiday treats will be
    served. $8 adults; free children under 12 at the door. Partially handicap accessible.

 

December 18, 2025 Thursday 9:30 am-8 pm

  • Day Trip to Quaint Country Churches

  • To Apple Creek churches we go! By motorcoach, join the tour of country churches
    adorned in Christmas finery sponsored by Historic Sappington House. Enjoy a home-
    style meal and treats; handmade crafts for sale.

 

December 20-21, 2025 Sat & Sun at 6 pm and 7 pm

  • Scenes from “A Christmas Carol” at Historic Sappington House

  • Stroll through Historic Sappington House, the perfect setting for the cherished tradition
    of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with talented Anne Williams. Dance Discovery’s
    Fezziwig party and the Cratchit family singers add to the festive story. Gingerbread
    house display in the Library. Tea and scones in The Barn. Shopping in the Loft.
