“We came for breakfast at The Barn and discovered the Sappington House Museum offers so much more. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Upstairs, The Loft gift shop was filled with wonderful locally made treasures at very reasonable prices, with proceeds supporting the museum.
We then walked over to the Sappington House and were lucky to receive a tour from resident manager Sally Cakouros, who was a wealth of knowledge and answered every question with patience and enthusiasm.​

The museum, restaurant, and gift shop together are truly a St. Louis gem — the perfect place to bring out‑of‑town guests for a great meal and a taste of local history.”

Our tour guide was very friendly & knowledgeable about the Sappington House Museum. It's a great place to see & you'll learn a lot about the history behind it. Check it out! It's worth the trip!

The grounds are pretty. The gardens around the house are worth seeing. Follow the path to a small lake with a few more flowers. Grants Trail runs next to the grounds, and there are always lots of bicyclists.

A wonderfully restored physician home office and farm at the gateway to the west in the early 1800s. Interestingly enough earlier in the day 200 miles to the east we visited the memorial for Abe Lincolns childhood home memorial which represents a stark contrast with its cabins being hewn out of the wilderness frontier.
